Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil (Jojoba Oil)
Many common hair and skin care products contain jojoba oil, but even on its own, jojoba oil is a powerhouse for your clean beauty routine. It's rich in beauty-boosting ingredients like vitamin E, vitamin B complex, copper, and zinc. Many oils are comedogenic, meaning they clog your pores and may not be good for those with acne-prone skin. But, because of the chemical structure, jojoba oil is different and does not clog pores. There are countless benefits of jojoba oil, here are some of the key benefits:
- Natural hydrator for both hair and skin.
- Soothe sunburns
- Naturally improves fine lines.
- Fade stretch marks & scars
Butyrospermum Parkii Fruit Fat (Shea Butter)
As an emollient and moisturiser, shea butter helps repair the skin and is an effective remedy for dark spots, wrinkles, stretch marks and sunburn. Its healing properties help treat minor burns, small wounds and insect bites.
Shea butter contains arachidic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid of which stearic and oleic acids are the highest. Oleic oil has moisturizing properties and is used as an ingredient in many skin care products (especially in butter cream products).
Shea Butter penetrates deep into skin to help restore elasticity. It absorbs quickly without leaving greasy residue like petroleum, beeswax or mineral oil based products.
Liminanthes Alba Seed Oil (Meadowfoam Seed Oil)
Meadowfoam seed oil comes from a beautiful, tiny white flowering plant that flourishes in the wet, grassy regions.
Meadowfoam seed oil doesn't just sit on the outside of the skin, the way some heavier moisturizers do. Some of the fatty acids in the oil can be absorbed into the lipids of the skin's outer layer, repairing that barrier so that moisture doesn't evaporate as quickly. The oil is also similar in texture to sebum, making it good protection from the elements. The result is softer, plumper skin.
Meadowfoam seed oil also contains vitamin E, a natural antioxidant, which helps protect the skin against damage from the sun and pollution. Researchers are beginning to study the way other compounds in the oil might protect skin cells from the sun's harmful UVB rays.
Helianthus Annus Seed Oil (Sunflower Seed Oil)
Helianthus annuus seed oil comes from compressing the seeds of a plant most commonly known as a sunflower. In skincare, it is mainly used as an emollient agent in cosmetic products. This is made possible by its high concentrations of oils (i.e. oleic acid, linoleic acid) and Vitamin E. Skin benefits of sunflower oil include: improving skin hydration and providing antioxidant protection.
The linoleic acid present in sunflower oil works to reinforce the skin barrier. This helps to reduce moisture loss from the skin surface, thus improving overall hydration. Additionally, the Vitamin E in sunflower seed oil also provides antioxidant advantages that allow it to neutralize free-radicals that are present in the environment.
